Day 2

The students returned with their sketches and we attended to them individually. We discussed with them their design intentions and guided them accordingly.

As we progressed, we realized that we had minimal knowledge on Racial Harmony in Singapore. To rectify that, we re-emphasize on research. Students checked out web sites that were related to Racial Harmony, as well as the background and history of Singapore. The most relevant information they found were Racial Harmony Day Logo Design for 2004 and Racial Harmony Day Float Panel Design for 2005. These served as the benchmark for our design.

We believed that every one of us grew up in different backgrounds that affected the way we used the same information to design. So, we encouraged a cooperative culture by asking the students to share findings like addresses of useful web sites among themselves. This also ensured that everyone progressed at the same pace.

Pictures and pages from web sites were saved in Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint. The pictures were printed at the end of every session so that the students could use them as references for their homework.
