Singapore Armed Forces
The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) is the military arm of the Total Defence of Singapore, as well as the military component of the Ministry of Defence. The SAF is an integrated armed force that comprises the Army, the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN).

The mission of SAF is to protect the sovereignty, territorial integrity and interests of Singapore. Its role is to deter potential aggressors, and should deterrence fail, to secure a swift and decisive victory

Learning Site

The Army
Students can get to see some of our soldiers including our Commandos and Guardsmen in action. During the visit, students will see the different types of equipment/ hardware used by the different arms in the Army. They will also see the rigorous training, which our soldiers have to undergo in order to help defend Singapore.

The Army museum will preserve the heritage of the Singapore Army, as well as honour the contributions and celebrate the experiences of our soldiers. It hopes to capture and tell the stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF)
Some of the visits/events organised by the Republic of Singapore Air Force include Open Houses and site visits to the Air Force Museum. At the Air Force Open House, students will be able to enjoy the aerobatic airshows and view the wide variety of the RSAFs hardware, including the F-16 and F-5E fighters and sophisticated air defence systems. Students would also have the opportunity to visit some facilities at the airbase such as the Aeromedical Centre, Flight Simulator Centre, Complete Engagement Simulator and Base Combat Debriefing Station (Air Combat manoeuvring instrumentation).

The Air Force Museum is situated at Paya Lebar Air Base and it traces the dynamic evolution of the RSAF from its infancy to the mature and potent force that it is today. The museum is considered one of the best military aviation museums in Asia with more than two thousand Air Force and aviation-related artefacts on display. The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN)
Visits to Naval Bases (Tuas or Changi Naval Base) will allow the students to view some of the regions most advanced fleet of ships. Depending on the base they visit, students will get to see our fast Missile Corvette (MCV), the Mine Counter Measure Vessel (MCMV), Patrol Vessel (PV), Landing Ship Tank (LST) or even the stealth frigate. The roles of the ships are to protect Singapores territorial waters against any external threats.

For those who are more interested in naval history, the Naval Museum traces the development of the naval forces in Singapore from the Straits Settlements Royal Naval Volunteer Reserves in the 19th Century right up to the present.
