RACIAL HARMONY DAY
free media design competition 2008

The Racial Harmony Day Organising Committee 2008 is organising a Free Media Design Competition in conjunction with 2008's Racial Harmony Day. In line with the Committee on National Education's (CoNE) recommendation to create different experiences to spark students' imagination about Singapore, students can choose to use various media to deliver the message of racial harmony.

The competition is open to all students studying in Singapore. The focus of the design should be a meaningful depiction of racial harmony. There are many interesting media for students to express their thoughts on racial harmony, depending on what they can best relate to or identify with. They can choose to:

• draw cartoons or comic strips
• compose a rap or song
• design a webpage
• write a play or story or poem
• make a video clip
• do a collage

There will be 4 categories as follows:-
i) Primary Schools
ii) Secondary Schools
iii) ITE / Junior Colleges / Centralised Institute / Polytechnics
iv) Open Category

There will be 2 winners and 5 commendation prizes per category.

For each category:
1st prize:        $200 book voucher & plaque for school
2nd prize:       $150 book voucher & plaque for school
3rd prize:        $100 book voucher & plaque for schoo
lMerit prizes:   $50 book vouchers (10 awards)
