This Sec Three Project Work (PW) was conceptualized with the objectives to:

Students embarked on a student-initiated quest in answering some of the interesting research questions derived about this district, yet at the same time, collating meaningful data that adds to the historical sense and value of Mountbatten district.

Oral Interview

Conducting oral interview with the owner of Sayang Villa, Mr Khoo

Through the methods of data collection, these students learn the value of Oral Interviews, sharpen their skills on library and internet research, and are excited by the knowledge they have gained and will be sharing with their community and peers in the form of a simple trail.

TK Team

TK team conducting a heritage trail for primary school students

What is unique in this PW is that there is close networking with the community partners such as the Mountbatten Citizens’ Consultative Committee (CCC) and the National Heritage board. The Mountbatten CCC was supportive in providing valuable information about Mountbatten and oral History contacts. The National Heritage Board advised on the requirements for a heritage trail project. This project has also received the NYAA grant, which recognizes the effort of the group in fulfilling their theme on ‘Things that Make Us Singaporeans’.
