This symbol illustrates the concept of racial harmony in unity. Each person is connected to one another in a circular fashion, symbolizing a inter-racial union of never-ending harmony.

The circular design also reflects our understanding and appreciation of the different values and traditions in our society. Together, we are a united nation. The costumes on each person in the logo depict our individual values, beliefs and culture. The circular motion also symbolises Singapore as an ever-progressing society that never rests on her achievements, and is an icon for the continual journey in our quest for racial harmony and unity.

Goh Jin Yang, Singapore Polytechnic

Racial Harmony is the bond between races. Thus, I decided to base my design on Singapore's four major races. The four different lines intersect with one another, meaning that the four races are in harmony. The lines also form the shape of a flower which represents beauty in harmony.
