The simple yet meaningful symbol depicts four hearts. On top of each heart is a sphere representing unity as well as a personification of the heart as a person. The four colours represent the four main races in Singapore. The underlying concept is that all races have to put their hearts together in order to achieve racial harmony. |

My design shows four different faces looking at one another in four different angles. The colours depict our four races, colourful costumes, food and vitality. Red and pink represent brotherhood, green represents growth and youth while Blue represents harmony and yellow represents warmth. It symbolises our multiracial society of people communicating and interacting with one another happily. I drew my inspiration from Pablo Picasso's art. |

The R and H are intertwined to signify that race and harmony must go along side by side. The letter H represents harmony and it is shaped like a tree trunk because it symbolises support for the growth of all the races in Singapore. The five races are represented by the leaves of different colours. These leaves are part of the tree that represents the community and society of Singapore. Taken in its entirety, the symbol represents the harmonious social fabric of Singapore. Racial harmony must always be maintained to ensure the growth and prosperity of the nation. |

Vanda Miss Joaquim is Singapore's national flower. Together, the petals complete the flower. If any petal is missing, the flower is no longer what it was. Similarly, the names of the different races on the petals signify that Singapore would no longer be what it is without any of the races. The flower is beautiful with all the petals. Singapore is beautiful with the different races. We cannot do without one another. |
